I was recently featured on the Minnesota State University, Moorhead page for the School of Media, Arts and Design as an alumnus! I connected with Professor Alex Fogarty and provided the following insight for future graduates:

1. What part of your time at MSUM and your degree helped prepare you for the work world? At MSUM I was always encouraged to think outside the box and push the limits, which I also do at my job now. GCOM was extraordinary for providing me with so many interesting connections and projects to start my resume. My final project is what helped me get my job here at BNG!

2. What is your favorite part of your job: I love creating new designs, both for print and web, that have a purpose. I really enjoy making websites or advertisements that I know will lead to business success and growth for BNG!

3. What new things have you learned lately? I’ve been studying a lot more about converting visitors to websites into real leads, marketing strategy, and search engine optimization lately! Our design team focuses on results, so I’ve been reviewing our statistics often and am learning what works/doesn’t work for individual industries all the time!

4. What one tip would you give to graduating seniors: One big tip I have for graduating seniors would be to reach out to your network connections early! If I didn’t talk to my faculty mentors in my last semester about entry level positions in my area I wouldn’t have found BNG. Plus, there are alumni all over the FM area. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them!
